Which of us wouldn’t be happy with a bunch of flowers on our table? And if they didn’t just fade away… We tried everything to do this: Didn’t we throw a coin in the water in the vase? Didn’t we spray hairspray on them? Or did we not put vinegar or aspirin in the water? How should vase flowers really be taken care of?
“There is nothing else that makes the sudden and obvious changes a flower makes to human emotions!” Saying this, Dr. from Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA. Haviland- Jones… Jones and his team conducted extensive research on the effects of flowers on our emotions for nearly a year. And the result: Flowers affect our mood much more than we think!
According to the research, the pleasure we get from life begins to increase from the first second we are in a flowery environment. Because flowers create instant happiness, which is universal, valid for all age groups… And this effect remains valid for a long time. On the other hand, it prepares the ground for sincere and sincere relations. It’s not over! Flowers are also a symbol of sharing. Because most of us like to put flowers in common areas such as the living room, which fills the atmosphere of the environment with a sense of sharing.
1- Before putting your flower in the vase, clean the leaves from the part of the stem that will be under water. The stems should be longer than the vase.
2- Fill at least three-quarters of the vase with water so that your flower can get the water it needs. But this water is neither too hot nor too cold, and change this water daily. Otherwise, your flower cannot find the nutrients it needs in the waiting water.
3- Cut the flower stalks every 2 days and clean the mold and algae formed on the tips with a plant brush. It is useful to cut the ends of the stems of the flowers obliquely to increase the surface area in contact with the water.
4- Do not keep your flower in direct sunlight or windy places.
5- Remove wilted flowers from the vase. Because it causes other living flowers to wilt.
6- Use flower foods. But you can also help the flowers last longer by adding a teaspoon of sugar to the water in the vase.
7- To reduce the microorganism activity in the water, you can throw crushed aspirin into the water, this will reduce the bacteria in your vase. By throwing a coin into the water, you can reduce the bacterial activity thanks to the metal ions. Or you can add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Because vinegar prevents the growth of bacteria.
8- If you add ¼ teaspoon of baking soda to 1 liter of water in the vase, your flowers can be kept fresh longer.
9- You can spray a small amount of hairspray to prevent the flowers from wilting. But the spray should only be sprayed from the underside of the leaves and petals.
