How is lung detox done? | Health

Lung detox is particularly beneficial for smokers, those who are regularly exposed to polluted air, and those with chronic conditions that affect the respiratory system such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis. In addition, it would be a useful approach to benefit from some natural methods that will support the detoxification of our lungs during the pandemic process that is still ongoing. Maintaining the health of the lungs is essential for keeping the rest of the body healthy. As a matter of fact, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), 4.2 million people die every year in the world as a result of exposure to air pollution alone.

1- Steam inhalation

Steam is a popular remedy for breathing, colds, and coughs. Steam inhalation consists of inhaling water vapor to open the airways and help the lungs to drain mucus. Although it is applied so easily, its effect is also noticeable. In particular, the symptoms of people with lung disease can worsen in dry and cold weather, weather conditions can dry their mucous membranes in their respiratory tract and restrict blood flow. On the contrary, breathing in steam improves breathing by adding warmth and moisture to the air and helps loosen mucus in the airways and lungs. Of course this is a temporary solution.

2- Controlled cough

Controlled cough can help drain mucus through the airways. For this, it will be sufficient to give the breath taken slowly from the nose while sitting on a comfortable seat, by coughing two or three times while leaning forward while moving the arms towards the stomach and while gently holding the mouth. This movement can be repeated until enough of the mucus is expelled.

3- Postürel drainage

Postural drainage involves lying in different positions to use gravity to expel mucus from the lungs. This way you can breathe more comfortably and help prevent or treat lung infections. Postural drainage techniques vary according to position. Lying on the bed in the supine position, the patient places a pillow under the hips to ensure that the chest is lower than the hip. He breathes slowly through the nose and exhales through the mouth. The exhalation time should be twice as long as the inhalation time. He then turns on both sides and continues this technique for a few minutes.

4- Exercise

Exercise forces the muscles to work harder, which increases the body’s breathing rate, which causes more oxygen to be delivered to the muscles. It also improves circulation, making it more efficient at removing excess carbon dioxide the body produces during exercise. The body will begin to adapt to meet the demands of regular exercise. Muscles will learn to use oxygen more efficiently and produce less carbon dioxide. Exercise is more difficult, but not impossible, for people with chronic lung conditions, but it will be helpful to do it under the supervision of a specialist.

5- green tea

Green tea contains antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation in the lungs. These compounds can even protect lung tissue from the harmful effects of smoke inhalation.

6- Anti-inflammatory foods

Among the foods that help fight inflammation, we can list the following: Broccoli, butter, spinach, green leafy vegetables such as these, turmeric, ginger, beets, cherries, blueberries, onions, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, walnuts, beans, lentils.

7- Outdoor walks

Spending time in environments with as much oxygen as possible and taking outdoor walks in these areas, even if only one day a week, still taking this opportunity will significantly support the cleansing of the lungs.

8- 40 cc per kilogram per day. Water Consumption

Water greatly helps detox the lungs as well as detoxify the whole body. The amount of water that should be consumed daily varies according to the weight of the person. Accordingly, a person should consume 40 cc of water per kilogram per day.
